Dave Coulter, President
Dave’s initial interest in the botanical world came from his youth on his family’s farm. He worked for several North Shore tree services, enlisted in and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Marine Corps and earned a BS in journalism from Bradley University. After a career in journalism and publishing, Dave returned to his environmental interests and the profession of native restoration.
He joined Eubanks & Associates in 1999 and rose to the position of General Manager with responsibility for all aspects of field operations. In 2006, Dave left to form Native Restoration Services, Inc. with fellow employee Larry McCotter.
Dave has held an Illinois Herbicide Operators License, has completed the Chicago Wilderness Burn Training modeled after federal S-130/190 courses, has attended several chain saw classes and numerous seminars covering a wide range of subjects in native restoration. Dave is experienced in the operation of all manner of equipment used in native restoration.

Larry McCotter, Vice President
Larry has a life-long interest in the environment. He is a native of Lake Forest and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies from the University of the Pacific. He has worked professionally in the field of restoration for over 20 years, beginning when he joined the board of Lake Bluff Open Lands Association, a non-profit land conservancy. He has led LBOLA since 1997, managing the restoration of over 200 acres of natural areas in Lake Bluff and Lake Forest.
A small business owner since 1986, Larry is experienced in all facets of small business administration. He holds an Illinois Herbicide Applicators License, has completed the Chicago Wilderness Burn Training and is a Certified Illinois Prescribed Burn Manager. He joined with Dave Coulter in 2006 to launch Native Restoration Services.

Ryan Stanley, General Manager
Ryan holds an Illinois Herbicide Applicators License, has completed the Chicago Wilderness Burn Training and has participated in numerous natural areas prescribed burns throughout the Chicago Region.
Along with his full time responsibilities at NRS, Ryan is enrolled at College of Lake County evenings and weekends pursuing an Associate Degree in Natural Areas Management. As General Manager and Crew Leader, Ryan supervises our day-to-day operation while overseeing many of our ongoing and future projects.

Amy Schutz, Restoration Ecologist
Amy is a life-long resident of Lake Forest and has an in-depth knowledge of local natural areas. She holds a BA with a concentration in Biology from Colby College, Waterville, Maine. Amy joined NRS in 2006 as Restoration Ecologist. She holds an Illinois Herbicide Applicators License and has completed the Chicago Wilderness Burn Training course.
Prior to joining NRS, Amy worked as a Native Habitats Assistant maintaining Dixon Prairie at the Chicago Botanic Garden and McDonald Woods located in Lindenhurst, IL. Amy has been an active volunteer for the Chicago Botanic Garden and serves on the Board of Directors of Lake Forest Open Lands Association.

All of our crew has extensive knowledge of our regions various ecosystems, including plant identification, tree and shrub identification, and general restoration practices. All crew members are all licensed herbicide operators and have successfully completed Chicago Wilderness burn training.
Continuing education is held in the highest regard at NRS, and all of our employees are continually taking classes, attending seminars and workshops to further advance their restoration skill, techniques and practices.
