Dave Coulter, President

Dave’s initial interest in the botanical world came from his youth on his family’s farm. He worked for several North Shore tree services, enlisted in and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Marine Corps and earned a BS in journalism from Bradley University. After a career in journalism and publishing, Dave returned to his environmental interests and the profession of native restoration.

He joined Eubanks & Associates in 1999 and rose to the position of General Manager with responsibility for all aspects of field operations. In 2006, Dave left to form Native Restoration Services, Inc.

Dave has held an Illinois Herbicide Operators License, has completed the Chicago Wilderness Burn Training modeled after federal S-130/190 courses, has attended several chain saw classes and numerous seminars covering a wide range of subjects in native restoration. Dave is experienced in the operation of all manner of equipment used in native restoration.

Ryan Stanley, General Manager

Ryan joined Native Restoration Services, Inc. in 2008. He studied Natural Areas Management at the College of Lake County. As General Manager , Ryan supervises our day-to-day operation while overseeing many of our ongoing and future projects.

Ryan holds an Illinois Herbicide Applicators License, has completed the Chicago Wilderness Burn Training and has participated in numerous natural areas prescribed burns throughout the Chicago Region.

Ryan Bovyn, Restoration Ecologist

Ryan (aka ‘Rybo’) has been with Native Restoration Services, Inc. since 2016. She is our office administrator and also oversees many of our projects, especially dealing with public lands and contracts with forest preserve districts, departments of natural resources and various municipalities. She is a graduate from DePaul University with a Master of Science in Ecology and has several publications in the fields of urban ecology and conservation biology. She holds an Illinois Applicators License, has completed the Chicago Wilderness Burn Training and Wildland Firefighter Training courses, and is currently a Master Naturalist intern.

Restoration Technicians

All of our crew has extensive knowledge of our regions various ecosystems, including plant identification, tree and shrub identification, and general restoration practices. All crew members are all licensed herbicide operators and have successfully completed Chicago Wilderness burn training.

Continuing education is held in the highest regard at NRS, and all of our employees are continually taking classes, attending seminars and workshops to further advance their restoration skill, techniques and practices.
